Maddie-homepage

Welcome! My name is Maddie Browning, and I’m an arts and culture journalist. I love a good female singer-songwriter and sharing the small artists on my playlists with my community.

I was previously the arts reporting fellow at WBUR, Boston’s NPR, where I spoke with Katie Gavin of MUNA about her solo project, caught up with Remi Wolf at Boston Calling, unearthed the legacy of ‘80s rock band Salem 66, and hung out with a local DIY band who opened for Maggie Rogers. I was also the youngest member of the local Tiny Desk panel.

Doing a 180 from my regular coverage, I covered the inaugural season of pro-women’s rugby for NPR.

For Boston.com, I reviewed touring artists’ concerts, including AURORASt. VincentLaufeyTate McRaeGriffAdrienne LenkerJames Taylor, and ROLE MODEL.

Before that, I wrote about arts and lifestyle for The Boston Globe. I interviewed many talented music artists and comedians, including Noah KahanChappell RoanKacey MusgravesArlo ParksMargaret Cho, and Lisa Ann Walter.

I won an EVVY Award for a story about English singer-songwriter Jade Bird’s music knowing she needed to end a relationship before she did for Her Campus.

Prior to any of this, I was a little girl dancing around my room to Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift CDs.
